E-resources
The links on the left will help you to find your way around TVU e-resources.
All members of TVU are entitled to access a wide range of e-resources provided through subscriptions maintained by TVU Library Services. For additional information about access entitlement please see Who can use library electronic information resources? These e-resources include large collections of full text journals and individual journal titles. As a student, you will be able to find valuable information that will help you to carry out your assignments. Using and citing these e-resources will enable you to demonstrate that you have read widely on a subject, using peer-reviewed academic publications, and this will help you to improve your grades. If you restrict your search to information that is freely available on the Internet you will be missing out.
The majority of e-resources can be accessed from anywhere in the world. E-resources available at TVU include a wide range of different types of material:
- Databases (1000’s of e-journals grouped together and searchable as a collection). Databases often specialise in particular areas and provide you with a useful way to search for information by subject.
- Individual e-journals – useful if you have found a reference to a specific article, or if you know the journal is particularly important in your subject area.
- E-books - full text access to a wide range of e-books, often grouped together as a collection.
- Multimedia resources - a range of non-textural learning resources.
- Newspaper sources - Databases that provide access to many daily and weekly newspapers.
- Abstracting and indexing services that allow you to carry out a full literature search for in depth research.
- Database cross-searching - the library is using a link resolver that allows searching between databases.
